What is media literacy?
Why is it important?
Why is it dismissed?
Why should you aim for varied views but the factual consensus in your PLN?
Open dialogues about media literacy and factual information can create conflict, why does this happen?
What is the benefit of having a PLN that values media literacy?
What I learned about media literacy this week is that it means the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and critically understand various media. Media literacy can cultivate a person’s critical thinking, so that he is not blindly accepting information. In the face of fake news and false information, be able to distinguish between true and false and avoid misinformation. It’s also often overlooked because some people are comfortable with the status quo and don’t want to challenge or question them. Everyone’s thinking is different, and they block accepting new information that is different from their own beliefs.
Because thinking together different opinions and facts can ensure that the obtained views are more accurate and comprehensive, and will not be led by some false or false information. Conflict arises because there may be misunderstandings between people in communication, which leads to differences or conflicts. People tend to recognize their inherent values and thoughts more, and may resist or reject new information. The advantage of cultivating media literacy is that it can exercise critical thinking to make more informed decisions, and for those with media literacy, it can also enhance understanding of global issues. In addition, good media quality content can enable various media to reduce the generation and dissemination of misinformation.
